Mont Saint Michel
Identity created during my final year of my Master's degree
The Mont Saint-Michel, perched on a granite rock in the heart of Normandy Bay, is a marvel that defies the laws of nature. It is a living witness of history, heritage and medieval culture, traditional arts and crafts, and a thriving biodiversity.
This island embodies a perfect symbiosis of culture and nature.
This island embodies a perfect symbiosis of culture and nature.
Concept
This osmosis and balance has now been disrupted by external factors such as over-visiting and mass tourism.
The identity is based on a combination of the identifying features of each species (sand streaks, sheep fur, fish scales, leaf veins, etc.) and architecture: Authentic and real : arches, vaults, the shape of the door frames, bull's eye, etc.
These elements represent the fusion and meeting of pattern and form: culture and nature.
Typography is inspired by craftsmanship. It refers to engravings, illuminations and sculptures that evoke culture. Its organic aspect symbolises nature, it’s combined with modern typography to fuse craft with modernity.
Le Mont Saint Michel is creating workshops
to protect the flora and fauna, craft workshops to promote the traditional trades of the time, gastronomic workshops to promote the creation of local recipes, and social workshops to link culture and nature with social issues through cultural events.
